EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
Evansville and Vanderburgh County are going online on Monday night with a new joint website.
The former city website was more than 10 years old and Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says it hadn't been updated in a while, was difficult to navigate, but more importantly, didn't reflect the city.
It features everything you need to know about the city and county, jobs available at all city locations, maps of the city including frequently asked questions about trash pick-up, and even proposed city budget plans. All things Mayor Winnecke said were on the former website, but were difficult to find.
The new website is also flashier and more up-to-date with access to Facebook, Twitter, and the mayor's Youtube Channel.
"It's an information tool, but it's also a marketing tool. We know that companies that look to locate here or in a community, they look at websites first, so we think this more exciting, vibrant website speaks to the true vitality of our community," Mayor Winnecke said.
In just a few weeks, the city will also unveil a new smart phone app where residents will be able to do things like report pot holes instantly and let the city know where they are located.
We'll keep you updated when that becomes available.
