KENTUCKY (WFIE) -

Did you know 160,000 kids missed school Thursday to avoid being bullied?

It's a problem Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway is fighting with some new recommendations for students, parents and teachers.

He says, if you're a student who gets a harassing email or text, don't respond. Block the person and tell an adult.

Parents, try to identify the person doing the bullying and do not erase pictures or messages. Contact police if the bullying involves harassment, stalking, or hate crimes.

And teachers, you are on the front lines in this fight.

Conway says, investigate claims of cyber bullying immediately, and talk openly and freely about the impact of all forms of bullying with your students. Encourage them to report it.
