A major facelift is coming to the Center Street Sculpture Park in downtown Madisonville.

The park was chosen as the recipient of the Lowe's Home Improvement Hero's Grant.

Thursday, Lowe's employees planted trees and flowers to improve the landscape.

Organizers of the downtown turnaround project say this is another step in making the city a better place to live.

"Of course, living here and working here, it's important that we can be involved with community and help out because what we do will pay off for us to be able to enjoy as well, so it's something that we enjoy doing," said Lowe's Store Manager Jason Atherton.

Organizers say they plan on adding a new sculpture to the park each year. They hope the improvements will make the park more attractive to the public.
