Sycamore building in Downtown Evansville to be auctioned

Posted: Updated:
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Sycamore Building in Downtown Evansville will soon be sold to the highest bidder.

Curran Miller Auction and Realty has announced it will sell the property later this month, but investors who are interested will have a chance to check it out before that date.

The Sycamore Building sits in the heart of Downtown Evansville and has since 1959.

Back then, it was used as a bank.

It was later sold to be used as office space.

Hugh Miller, president of Curran Miller Auction and Realty, hopes to see the new owner embrace what he calls "prime real estate."

"Hopefully there will be a company purchase it that will continue to use it as an office building and contribute to the growth of the downtown area," said Miller.

The building is being auctioned off as a package deal, with the parking lots on either side.

"Parking is a major issue in any city and this building has the luxury of having 80 plus, almost 90 paved parking spaces," said Miller.

Another bonus, Miller says, is considering it's age, the building is in excellent physical shape.

"It's in very nice condition," said Miller. "Actually, to be frank about it I was pleasantly surprised when I took the first tour what we found and what nice shape it's in."

Anyone with interest will have a chance to tour the building before the auction date.

Showings will be September 11t at 1, 2 and 3 p.m.

You don't have to make an appointment. Hugh says you can just show up.

"If you have an interest in the building, we want to be sure you have an opportunity to see it," said Miller.

The auction is September 25 at the old Integra Bank building in Downtown Evansville at 11 a.m.
