PETERSBURG, IN (WFIE) -

The Labor Day Association hosted its 126th Labor Day Parade in Petersburg on Monday morning.

It started at 8:00 a.m. on Main Street as the rain held off and hundreds of people lined the parade route.

There were over 100 entries in the parade this year.

Charlie Wyatt, president of the association, says the parade is important because it represents 'hard working Americans.'

Wyatt says, "From the CEOs of a company, all the way to the guy that locks the door at night. That's the one message we want to make sure we get across because a lot of people think it's just for unions, but it's not. We're honoring everybody out here today."

"It's really great for our community because it brings everybody in and the local businesses have held events for people," said Pike County residents Lori Williams.

The Labor Day Association will vote in November where it will have the parade next year.

It's been in Boonville, Princeton and Petersburg.
