Last day for live racing at Ellis Park

Posted: Updated:
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

We've been telling you a lot about the new instant racing machines out at Ellis Park, but if you didn't make it to any live horse races this season, today is your last chance.

Officials at Ellis Park say Labor Day is typically very busy because many people have off work, plus it's their last chance to see a live horse race this season.

Ellis Park officials say each year on average, about 6,000 people visit the park on Labor Day.

Today, they're expecting even more people because attendance has been up by double digits this season.

If you plan on coming out today, doors open at 10 a.m.

There's free parking, free admission and free seating.

If you can't make it today, the park will now be open all year round thanks to those new instant racing machines.

There's 200 already and we're told 65 will be added in the next few months.

Hours at Ellis Park are 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Today's post time is set for 12:50 p.m.

Ellis Park officials say the horses race rain or shine.
