OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -
A head-on collision Sunday morning on the Blue Bridge in Owensboro shut down traffic for most of the morning.
Owensboro Police say two vehicles were driving across the bridge when they hit one another head-on just after 8:00 a.m. 21-year-old Amanda Bowles was driving southbound across the bridge and 6o-year-old Phyllis Smith was driving northbound when the two cars collided.
Officers say Bowles was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Other passengers in Bowles' car suffered minor injuries.
Smith also received minor injuries in the accident.
Authorities had the bridge shut down for over four hours. It was closed for so long because the accident had to be reconstructed due to the conflicting reports from the drivers involved and to clear away the vehicles.
The bridge was opened to traffic around 12:30 p.m. The accident is still under investigation.
