HENDERSON, KY (WFIE) -
Friday, close to 200 instant racing machines made their debut at Ellis Park, as the live racing season starts to wrap up.
14 News talked to several people at Ellis Friday. Some said they were so excited to try out the machines, they had trouble sleeping.
Others were not quite sold on the latest additions.
There are 187 new instant racing machines right now and Owner Ron Geary says 65 more should be on their way in the next three or four months.
This is a day, he says, that they've been looking forward to for years. And it seems some guests were also pretty excited, even getting here early this morning to try things out.
"We had quite a few people outside this morning at 10:00 and they came in and picked out their machine and started playing," Geary told 14 News. "It's been a very steady stream all day. And we expect with our live racing starting from 12:50 to 5:30 that before after and during the live racing we'll have a lot of people come in and try the games because they're extremely fun."
Geary says they are expecting over 20,000 people here this weekend playing instant racing machines and watching live racing, which wraps up on Monday.
These machines are open from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m.
