Hopkins Co. approves 3-year contract with Code-Red alert system

HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) -

In Hopkins County, fiscal court has approved a 3-year contract with Code-Red, an emergency weather alert provider.

Officials say the alert system is much more efficient and only notifies the areas affected by a serious threat, instead of the entire county.

"It makes it a lot faster to get to calls to the people that are going to be affected and leave the rest of them alone unless they are affected," said EMA Director Frank Wright.
