The Boys and Girls Club of Evansville has been busy this summer, serving the youth of the community, and now that students are back in school, the club has a few days for some "deep cleaning" before reopening.

This facility opened in June of 2009, so it's a fairly new building, but with thousands of kids spending a lot of time here, especially all summer long, it really takes a beating.

With the kids back in school during the daytime, workers and volunteers are taking this time to clean and reorganize.

They're scrubbing walls, painting and re-doing floors in almost every room.

As an affiliate of the Boys and Girls Club of America, the Evansville club maintains high standards to remain in good standing with the national organization.

In doing so, they want to maintain their facility, keeping it in the best shape possible, but mainly for the kids.

"We want this place looking good, so when people come in here, not only do they say, 'Oh my gosh, I had no idea what you'd done with the kids' but to look at our facility and say 'Hey, you know what, this is number one,'" said executive director Ron Ryan.

They've still got a lot to do. They reopen on September 10th.
