VERNON, CT (WFSB) -
A Vernon man has been charged with attempting to sexually assault a 13-year-old after hiring him to wash his car and taking him to dinner, according to police.
In a news conference on Thursday, police said the teen's mother was suspicious of the man that hired her son and looked for him on the state's sex offender registry.
Mark Joseph Tucker Jr., 54, was charged with attempted sexual assault of a minor, risk of injury and providing alcohol to a minor. Tucker was convicted previously of sexually assaulting a juvenile in Vermont, police said.
Police said Tucker was found to be in possession of a stolen Cadillac Escalade, which is valued at $54,000. The vehicle was recently stolen from Scranton Motors in Vernon and was being held in a storage facility, police said.
Police held a press conference Thursday to "identify any other victims that Tucker may have targeted" and asking them to come forward. Any victims are asked to call Vernon police at 860-872-9126.
Tucker was arraigned on larceny charges Thursday and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Rockville Friday on the sexual assault charges.
