OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

It's a big day in Owensboro.

The city's saying goodbye to two of its leaders.

If you've got some time to spare today, you're invited to stop by a couple of retirement parties for two city officials.

Police Chief Glenn Skeens and City Operations Manager Tony Cecil are bidding farewell to the city today.

Cecil was a major player in seeing the completion of the newly re-opened Smothers Park through to completion. His party will be held downtown tonight at the Jody Berry Theater in River Park center from 5 until 7.

Earlier in the day Chief Skeens' sendoff will be held at the same place.

His retirement was announced early last week. He's been with the department since 1989 and was promoted to chief in 2007.

If you'd like to stop by to say your goodbyes, both events are open to the public.
