Improved care is coming to Owensboro's hospital.
If you go to OMHS and need your physician they might not always be at the office depending on what time of the day it is.
OMHS is adding a hospitalist program so that you will always be able to see an OB/GYN at the hospital at all times.
Officials say adding an in-house OB/GYN will improve response times for emergencies.
A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in caring for patients who are hospitalized rather than in a clinical office setting.
"The private physicians are either in their office or at home depending on what time it is and they would give us a call," said Dr. Chris Toler. We would evaluate over the phone and then come in and seethe patient if that was necessary. With the program every patient will be seen in the hospital by a physician."
