EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility is hosting a meeting at Bosse High School this evening to present information and seek feedback on a draft sewer plan.
"Renew Evansville" is holding this meeting, we are told, to present its draft "Integrated Overflow Control Plan" or the IOCP.
The group believes this plan will improve and modernize Evansville's sewer system.
The effort to implement the plan, called "Renew Evansville", will be one of the city's largest capital improvement projects to date.
In fact, the project could cost customers more than $227 million over the next 20 years.
The plan is to keep storm and wastewater overflows from nearby waterways.
Utility officials say right now, about three and a half billion gallons of "sewage overflow" ends up in the Ohio and Pigeon Creek each year.
You're encouraged to attend this meeting, which will be presented by Renew Evansville team members and engineers.
It's in the auditorium of Bosse High from 5-7 p.m.
