Green River/Lincoln Ave. construction almost complete

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

There's good news on Monday about the busy Lincoln-Green River Road intersection in Evansville.

Assistant City Engineer Chris Cottom says the project is about two months ahead of schedule and almost completed.

All traffic lanes are open with some temporary closings for minor road work. Crews are laying sod along the road and the traffic signal work continues.

The folks at Droste's Jewelry Shoppe say they appreciate the speedy work of the construction crews.

"These guys did a great job. I mean, they've worked hard, they've worked through the heat of the summer, and of course, it's a great upgrade to the corner," said Tim Droste, co-owner of Droste's. "You kinda have to go through the bad to get to the good. So, we're just real appreciative, you know, that it's turned out as nice as it has. They've done a great job on it."

Droste called the construction which started in March a hindrance, but said he didn't see any decline in his sales.
