The city of Tampa is already experiencing some strong wind and heavy rain from Isaac, where the Republican National Convention will get underway on Tuesday.
What was supposed to be day one of the Republican National Convention was over and done with in about ten minutes.
Tropical Storm Isaac forced the convention to be delayed by one day. That kept most of the Indiana delegation inside their hotel and out of the strong wind and rain.
"It's kind of like a husband waiting for his wife to have a baby," said Wayne Park.
Wayne Park, Chairman of the Vanderburgh County Republican Party, will gather with other Hoosiers on Tuesday in a section not far from the stage. It's his first time attending a national convention.
"From an Indiana delegation standpoint, something like about 45 percent of the people are new and it's their first time too," Park said.
Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and his wife, Carol, are also in Tampa with the delegation and will be in the audience throughout the week.
"They are starting to wear their buttons and getting crazy hats out. You can tell people are ready to get to the convention center and have some fun," Winnecke said.
That fun, Mayor Winnecke says, will start at the hotel, bright and early Tuesday morning.
"The Indiana delegation is having a breakfast at our hotel. Congressman Pence is the speaker. So, we'll be hearing from him and then make our way to the convention center by bus," Winnecke said.
There they'll join thousands of delegates from other states as well as the national news media, other politicians, like New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, even the Oak Ridge Boys.
On the agenda for Tuesday is a speech by Governor Christie, as well as Ann Romney. Paul Ryan is set to take the stage on Wednesday followed by Mitt Romney on Thursday.
