HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) -

The Kentucky State Police is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of one person and severe injuries to another.

On Sunday night, at 9:51 p.m., the KSP Post 2 Madisonville received a call in reference to a shooting that occurred in the Dalton Community of Hopkins County.

Upon preliminary investigation, authorities say it appears that a juvenile shot two subjects outside their home on Dalton Road.

45-year-old Rose M. Riley was pronounced dead at the scene by Hopkins County Coroner Dennis Mayfield.  Her husband, 51-year-old Keith R. Riley was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

The juvenile was charged with murder and attempted murder and lodged in the Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

"As far as juveniles are concerned when they're an offender, there's very limited information that law enforcement can release as far as personal information pertaining to that juvenile," said KSP Trooper Stu Recke.

An autopsy is scheduled for today, August 27, 2012, in Louisville.  The investigation is continuing by the KSP.
