VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) -

The EVSC is dealing with its second school bus accident in two days.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Deputies say, late Friday morning, a bus carrying 11 North High School students rear-ended a pick-up as they were coming to a stop on southbound Highway 41 at Petersburg Road.

Authorities tell us one student and two adults in the truck were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Wednesday, the school corporation says another bus carrying students from Hebron Elementary clipped a parked car while making a turn.

The EVSC says a police officer on scene asked the children involved if anyone was hurt and they all said no.

They were transferred to another bus, then taken home.

But later on, several parents called the school corporation reporting injuries their children suffered, including a bloody nose and a broken collarbone.

"We don't want any of our children to have any kind of injuries on a bus or anywhere else at school," said EVSC Director of Communications Marsha Jackson. "And we do take them very seriously and we are going to relook at the protocol that we have in place."

Despite these two instances, the EVSC says it's seen a sharp decline in the number of its school bus accidents over the past few years.
