Alyssa Hansen

Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Alyssa is excited that her career's taken her to the Bluegrass State.

She graduated cum laude from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University with a degree in broadcast journalism and specializations in political science and sociology.

Her start in broadcasting began when she was allowed to participate in the morning announcements as a kindergartner alongside older students.

At Ohio University, Alyssa worked for WOUB-TV, Athens, Ohio's PBS Station.  She started out as a morning radio reporter before working her way up to being an anchor, reporter, and producer for Newswatch, the station's student-run nightly news program.

Some of the stories Alyssa has covered include the prescription drug crisis that ravaged southeast Ohio and an in-depth piece examining education in Appalachia.

During her time as a student, she completed internships with WBNS-TV and the Ohio News Network in Columbus, Ohio.  As a Statehouse News Bureau Fellow, she was in charge of covering Statehouse news and even had the opportunity to interview Governor John Kasich.  She also interned with KQV Newsradio in Pittsburgh.

In her free time, Alyssa enjoys reading, spending time with her family and friends, and meeting new people.  She also loves pop culture, Presidential trivia, and classic rock.
