EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Evansville Police are investigating a report of animal cruelty in the 6000 block of Berry Lane, and a reward is now being offered to whoever can help identify these cat torturers.

The owner of two cats reported that one cat, Miss Kitty, had been shot with a BB gun about two weeks ago.

The second cat, Morris, had been missing for about 5 days.

"We were scared to death. We couldn't find him we thought he was gone," said the cats' owner Amanda Hendrix.

"I thought maybe he might have gotten into an engine and got driven away. We just didn't know what happened to him," said neighbor Tamara Burns.

When he returned home, there were injuries that looked like Morris had been tortured. He had several burns on his face, missing whiskers, a large knot on his head, and his claws worn down.

Hendrix has her own ideas about what happened.

"Morris, I think, was confined. Considering all of his claws are completely destroyed like he was trying to escape. The burn mark on the top of his head over here was perfectly circular, like somebody put a cigarette to his head," Hendrix said.

Miss Kitty and Morris are healing though Hendrix says he hasn't been the same.

Police are now involved trying to figure out who hurt them.

"It's just very tragic that people out there would hurt a little animal," Burns said.

Hendrix said, "Makes me angry. It's cruel and I just don't understand how someone could sit there and confine an animal and torture it. It's cruel. It breaks my heart."

Hendrix thinks the culprit is someone in her subdivision right next to Central High School. An area she says her family moved to protect her kids.

Evansville Pet Sitters says they are offering a $200 reward. Anyone with information on in these inhumane acts is asked to call Evansville Police.
