UPDATE: Gibson County fire damages nearby power lines

GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) -

Gibson County dispatch reports crews are on the scene of a house fire.

They say this is happening at 502 N Main St. in Patoka.

Charles Heflin with the Patoka-White River Fire Department says the home is a total loss.

Officials say fire broke out after 6:30 this morning.

There was one person inside the house, but that person was able to get out of the burning home safely before firefighters arrived.

Officials say a firefighter was taken to the hospital as a precaution after being electrocuted on scene.

Fire officials also say the fire damaged power, phone and cable lines and some customers have been affected.

The fire damaged power, phone and cable lines. Duke energy officials say about 15 customers were affected. Power was restored around 10:30.
