Registration underway for 7th annual PAC Challenge bike ride in Hopkins County

HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) - Registration is currently underway for the 7th annual PAC Challenge bike ride in Hopkins County.

In the past this event was scheduled for sometime in July, but due to the extreme heat we've had this summer, organizers decided to push it back to September.

The PAC, or the Pennyrile Area Cyclists are a non-profit organization who perform regular community service events such as this bike ride, as well as try to promote cycling of all kinds.

This PAC Challenge consists of four loop rides of different lengths, starting at 10 miles and then over 60 miles for all you hardcore riders, all the way through the northeast part of the county.

All four rides start at the Madisonville Community College.

Organizers are asking for donations that benefit the youth of Hopkins County, in particular money raised will go towards purchasing new bikes for under privileged kids during the holidays.

Funds will also go towards maintaining bike trails at Grapevine Park and the Pennyrile State Park.

The event gets underway at 8 a.m. on September 8th but registration is underway.
