OAKLAND CITY, IN (WFIE) -

An overnight accident in Oakland City leads to a man being airlifted to an Evansville Hospital.

Indiana State Police say a car collided with a motorcycle at the intersection of State Road 57 and State Road 64 just before 9 o'clock Monday night.

Troopers say the rider of the motorcycle, 43-year-old Michael Shafer, of Oakland City, was not wearing a helmet.

Authorities say he was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the car, 18-year-old Brittany Bauer of Vincennes was not taken to a hospital.

Last December, Shafer was arrested in connection with a one pot meth lab found at Wood Memorial.

Indiana State Police confirmed Shafer is the defendant in the pending Gibson Superior Court criminal case which is set for trial this fall. Shafer was an employee at the school.

Shafer is listed in fair condition after the Monday night accident.
