MT. CARMEL, IL (WFIE) -
Fire officials in Mt. Carmel, Illinois responded to an overturned semi that was carrying diesel fuel.
The Mt. Carmel Fire Department says around 9:15 Saturday morning, a semi tanker rolled over at the intersection of 9th and Walnut Streets.
When first units arrived, they say the semi tanker was on its side.
Upon investigation, it was determined that the semi was carrying approximately 6,000 gallons of diesel fuel and it was not leaking.
The owner of the trucking company called in an environmental services company from Evansville, Indiana to off-load the tanker.
Fire officials say Illinois Route 15 is currently shutdown and traffic is being rerouted around the accident site.
