OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -
An Owensboro teen facing charges in the death of an Owensboro man made his first court appearance on Wednesday.
19-year-old Joseph Galloway was arrested earlier this month. Investigators say he brought the gun to a Spencer County gathering where 20-year-old Cody Bailey was shot.
On Wednesday, Galloway was formally charged with dangerous control of a firearm, a class C felony that carries a maximum eight year prison sentence. The Spencer County judge set bond at $50,000 cash.
"You don't bring a gun to a party and just pass it around and let people play with a gun. Of course, eight years is not enough over being irresponsible like that, for taking my son's life. I don't think 100 years would be enough. I'm never going to see my son again," said David Bailey, the father of Cody Bailey.
Also involved in the case is a 17-year-old girl who police believe took the handgun from Galloway and fired the shot that struck the victim in the chest. She's been charged with criminal recklessness with a fire arm causing death and reckless homicide and was taken to a youth facility in Knox County.
