KENTUCKY (WFIE) -
Gov.
Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered
to half-staff from Wednesday, Aug. 15 until sundown on Friday Aug. 17, in
honor of his chief of staff, Mike Haydon, who passed away unexpectedly on
Sunday.
"Mike
Haydon was not only an invaluable person in my administration, he was a man who
devoted decades of his life to public service in Kentucky," Gov. Beshear
said. "This flag tribute honors Mike for the many years he dedicated to
working in state and local governments, and is a symbol of our appreciation for
his service to the people of this state."
Gov.
Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government
agencies to join in this tribute.
Flag
status information is available at www.governor.ky.gov/flagstatus.htm.
Visitation will be held Wednesday,
August 15, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Capitol Rotunda, with a memorial
service beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Another visitation will be held at
Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home at 221 East Main Street in Springfield from 4 to
8 p.m. Thursday. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St.
Dominic Church in Springfield, but because of the small size of the church,
friends are encouraged to pay respects at the visitations if possible.
