WARRICK CO., IN (WFIE) -

The Warrick County woman accused of stealing thousands of dollars through different fundraisers has been sentenced.

Authorities say Katherine Conapinski was convicted of four counts of theft and one of check fraud.

Prosecutors said she misrepresented herself by saying she was collecting money for a young cancer patient named Wade.

Wade's parents, Scott and Heather Debruin say they buried their son while Conapinski collected money supposedly on their behalf.

"Everybody in the courtroom had been some how involved in fundraising and the benefit and the aftermath of her denying that she had stolen the money," the Debruins said.

Conapinski was sentenced to five years probation and one year of house arrest. She will also have to work 10 hours each month for the next five years at the Warrick County Landfill, and pay up to $20,000 in restitution.

Conapinski also faces charges in Vanderburgh County.
