EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
The attempted sale of a stolen .22 rifle set in motion a chase with police, a crash, and an arrest.
Authorities say 23-year-old Dakota Reisinger was attempting to pawn a stolen gun at the Green Gun Shop in Henderson.
When the shop checked the serial number and saw that the gun was stolen, they contacted police.
We're told Reisinger left the store before the authorities showed up.
An unmarked unit was able to spot the silver van driven by Dakota. When it crossed the bridge into Indiana officers tried to pull it over, and the chase began.
Evansville Police say officers tried to make a stop at Adams and Lodge, but say the driver led them on a chase that wound through several neighborhoods, then into the river bottoms area and onto Highway 41 where the van crashed at Virginia and 41. The suspect was taken into custody.
The police affidavit says Reisinger admitted stealing the van from Warrick County and using keys found in the van to steal two rifles from a Warrick County business.
Reisinger is charged with criminal recklessness, possession of stolen property, and resisting law enforcement.
Authorities say there were two women in the van with Reisinger. Police say 22-year-old Stephanie Marshall of Newburgh was arrested on a trespassing charge.
