OHIO COUNTY, KY (WFIE) -
Police believe a 7-year-old is in the hospital because his mother was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Around seven o'clock Sunday night, 28-year-old Sarah Vaught of Beaver Dam was driving her 2008 Toyota north on KY69 South when her car dropped off the right side of the road and hit a tree.
Sarah was trapped in the car and had to be extricated using the jaws of life
After being cut out of the vehicle, she was taken to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
7-year-old Colton Vaught was flown to Kosair's in Louisville where he is now listed in serious condition.
Sara Vaught is charged with several offenses including DUI, possession of a controlled substance, and wanton endangerment.
