Cause of death released for man found in Green River

MUHLENBERG CO., KY (WFIE) -

Sunday afternoon boaters found a body near the shoreline of Green River, about ½ mile down stream from the Central City Boat Ramp.

Search and Rescue was able to retrieve the body at 3:19 P.M.

Later in the afternoon the body was identified as 42 year old, Mark T. Latham of Central City, KY.

Just before dark, Search and Rescue located what was believed to be a vehicle just down stream from the Central City Boat Ramp; the vehicle belonging to Latham was retrieved from the river at approximately 10:00 p.m.

The coroner told Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department that the preliminary report indicates drowning as the cause of death. The coroner says there was no trauma or blunt force to the body prior to death. 

The Sheriff's Department and The Corner's Office were assisted by Central City Police, Kentucky State Police, Central City Fire Department, McLean County Fire Department, Department of Fish and Wildlife and Muhlenberg County Ambulance Service.
