TRI-STATE (WFIE) -
The end of the London Summer games is approaching with the closing ceremonies to begin around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The 2012 games are a huge success by our network, NBC, and for the United States the pride we feel for our athletes is universal.
I'd like to take this time to say that WFIE is proud to have carried these games and are thankful for our local sponsors support.
We are especially thankful for our sponsors partnership with us, supporting the Special Olympics messages you saw in our Olympic coverage over the last 17 days.
The Special Olympics organization provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in more than 20 Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Special Olympics thrives on the gifts and abilities of its diverse members-athletes, volunteers, families, coaches, and sponsors and donors like you. It's a movement that impacts lives for the better. It's an organization that needs your help.
If you can make time in your schedule, please keep the Olympic spirit your hearts permanently, consider volunteering or making a donation to this worthy cause.
