EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Deaconess Gateway Hospital hosted a family fun night and bicycle safety fair.

The event was put on by Mended Little Hearts, which is a support group for parents of children with heart defects.

The group received a $5,000 check from the recent 911 Gives Hope Guns and Hoses event.

"I was just very excited to receive this money," said Coordinator and Founder Julie Stucki. "All of the money that was given to us will stay in the Tri-State like all money raised, and it will help out families who their child needs to go to Riley, St. Vincent's, to Cosairs, to have open heart surgery."

Mended Little Hearts serves over 85 families in the Tri-State area.
