HENDERSON CO., KY (WFIE) -
In Henderson County, it's a big weekend for the Humane Society, with a local business taking donations and an adopt-a-thon.
Gabbi's Boutique, a specialty pet shop in downtown Henderson is spreading the word about that fundraiser through their Facebook page, and collecting items animals need throughout the week.
Gabbi's Boutique, on Second Street, is collecting food and new or used items like leashes and blankets for Humane Society pets.
They're also holding an ice cream social on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., complete with special ice cream for dogs.
Gabbi's tells 14 News they work closely with the Humane Society and say it's important to help out those animals that need homes.
"It's just our way to say, to bring awareness to that and also say thanks to our customers who obviously have animals of their own that they do take care of, but bring more awareness, too, that there are still so many animals that need, need a good home," said Gabbi's Boutique owner Angie Lilly.
The shelter tells 14 News, they have a lot of dogs and especially cats that need homes.
They're holding an Adopt-a-thon at PetSmart all weekend long.
