PRINCETON, IN (WFIE) -
Wednesday afternoon, August 8, Indiana State Police arrested 25-year-old Anthony Yokel, of Allendale, IL, in connection with the June 16 fatal crash on S.R. 168 that killed a Princeton woman.
Officials say Yokel was arrested after he turned himself in at the Gibson County Jail.
He is currently being held on a $5,000 cash bond.
ISP says the crash investigation conducted revealed Yokel was driving his 2002 Daewoo eastbound on S.R. 168 east of Owensville around 1:00 a.m. when he drove left of center and struck a 1999 Pontiac Grand-Am head-on.
The driver of the Pontiac, 20-year-old Lauren Hale, of Princeton, was killed upon impact.
Yokel was seriously injured, but has been released from Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Authorities say further investigation revealed Yokel was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana at the time of the crash.
After reviewing the crash investigation, the Gibson County Prosecutor's Office filed criminal charges against Yokel and issued a warrant for his arrest.
Yorkel is charged with:
- Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated Resulting in Death, Class C Felony
- Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated Resulting in Death, Class B Felony
- Criminal Recklessness with a Vehicle, Class A Misdemeanor
