Diners help build college fund for two children over dinner

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Diners came out to the west side Hacienda Tuesday night not just to eat, but to help build a college fund for two orphaned children.

They are the children of Katie Goffinet who was killed in a domestic violence attack June 9th behind Lonestar Steakhouse on Evansville's east side.

Goffinet's mother says the children are getting better, and they are thankful for all the support they have received.

"We have had a lot of support and Katie was loved by a lot of people. It definitely shows how they have supported us and in all the memories they have posted on Facebook. Its been really great," said Goffinet's friend, Jenni Case.

If you missed the fundraiser on Tuesday but would still like to donate to the kids' college funds, accounts are set up at Old National Bank in the children's names, Angel Goffinet and Michael Freeman.
