Clean Evansville Initiative receiving national spotlight

Posted: Updated:
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke's Clean Evansville Initiative is highlighted in the "Best Practices" section of the U.S. Conference of Mayors weekly newsletter.

The Clean Evansville Initiative came about after a site selector came to Evansville scouting new locations for a new business adventure. The scout commented that the city appeared dirty and lacked a sense of community pride.

Mayor Winnecke announced the initiative after taking office and since then nearly 7 tons of trash has been picked up.

The newsletter is received by more than 1,300 mayors across the country in cities with populations greater than 30,000 ranging from Los Angeles, Chicago and New York to Indianapolis, Albuquerque and Owensboro.
