OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

On Sunday, August 5th, at around 2:30 p.m. the Owensboro Fire Department responded to a Fire Alarm call at 537 J. R. Miller Blvd.

Upon arrival OFD say they saw debris in the back yard that was suspected to be connected with a meth lab.

OPD Street Crimes detectives were called to the scene and were able to confirm that the items located in the yard had been removed from the apartment after catching on fire.  They say the items were consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Detectives executed a search warrant for the apartment and located more items in a back room of the house indicative of ongoing meth production.

OPD says the home's resident, Kenneth Yarber, left the scene before detectives were able to talk to him.

Police say this case remains under investigation.
