Sturgis residents to vote on alcohol sales

STURGIS, KY (WFIE) -

Residents of the western Kentucky town of Sturgis will head to the polls on Tuesday to decide whether alcohol should be sold in the city.

Union County Clerk Trey Peak says that Sturgis is the only city in the county that forbids sales of alcohol, and the county allows liquor sales, though it does have dry precincts.

He says the special election includes three precincts, which will be counted independently. That means different precinct could make different decisions on whether alcohol will be sold.

The polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
