Practice run for school buses in Daviess County

DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) -

The Daviess County Public Schools transportation department is ready to roll into a new school year. As part of the preparation for the first day of school drivers will participate in a dry run Monday morning.

This dry run is just a practice day for the buses in Daviess County.

Transportation Director Wayne Wright says there are several benefits involved with this process.

The dry run gives drivers an opportunity to review their routes, and allows parents and students to confirm their morning pick-up times.

Families are encouraged to watch their bus stops to note the arrival time of their school bus.

Mechanics have been working throughout the summer to ensure that all buses are inspected, tuned up and in excellent working order.

Drivers and monitors are participating in training classes to review safety policies to provide safe and efficient transportation of students.

The first day of school is this Wednesday, August 8.

Drivers should be on the lookout for children during the morning commute and as they are being dropped off in the afternoon.
