NEWBURGH, IN (WFIE) -

After hearing reports on low food bank stock due to the drought, one Newburgh restaurant says they wanted to find a way to help out.

Pita Pan managers say an employee had the idea to donate to Tri-State Food Bank, and this weekend, 15% of the restaurant's proceeds are going toward just that.

Managers tell 14 News they hope the trend of giving back catches on.

"Unlike taxes you have to do, this you get to do. You get to do something for somebody. It makes a big deal. It is a big deal. It makes a big difference. It's just a benefit all the way around, and there are a lot of restaurants around here that could do something, so maybe if one starts and then another will do something. It's just nice to help out," said Jennifer Schenk, the front-end manager at Pita Pan.

The give-back goes on until 7:00 p.m. Sunday night.

Pita Pan says if you can't make it out, they're still accepting donations for Tri-State Food Bank this week.
