DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) -

Daviess County Sheriff's Office says a woman and her unborn baby died Sunday morning in a multi-vehicle crash, and deputies say the fatal accident may have been caused when an Evansville man fell asleep at the wheel.

Authorities say the accident happened on the 5400 block of Highway 54 in Philpot, Kentucky Sunday morning.

14 News is told 36-year-old Brandon McClure of Evansville told deputies he was driving westbound on Highway 54 when he thinks he fell asleep at the wheel.  The next moment he told authorities he remembered was that he'd been involved in an accident.

McClure struck an eastbound vehicle head on driven by 47-year-old Mary Roby of Philpot, Kentucky and her passenger 32-year-old Leslie Nunn.

All three had to be cut from their vehicles and were transported to Owensboro Medical Health Systems.

Nunn and her unborn baby were pronounced dead at the hospital.
