OAKLAND CITY, IN (WFIE) -

We've shown you a lot of storm damage in eastern Gibson County in the past few days, but Friday morning we were told about a family who's home was destroyed, before they even got a chance to move in.

This all happened just a couple weeks after they welcomed a baby girl.

Valerie Conder says she and her boyfriend had just finished remodeling this trailer last weekend when Tuesday night's storm flipped it over and destroyed it.

"We originally didn't think it would be this bad. We thought, oh, it can't be that bad. Maybe we can salvage it," Medea Gulledge, whose son's home destroyed by storm.

Valerie Conder. boyfriend Ryan and their two-week-old daughter Layla were all ready to move their newly-remodeled home to a lot in Oakland City, a project they'd been working on all Spring.

Like many Gibson County homes, severely damaged by the up to 110 mile-per-hour winds Tuesday, destroyed. All their hard work, now piles of debris.

Valerie says she doesn't think much can be saved, just the porch that still stands several yards away. She says they had just untethered the trailer last weekend, to get it ready for the move.

"Now the initial shock's over and we can move on from here, but it's going to be hard for them to get a place and keep going on," Gulledge said.

Ryan's mother tells us the whole family was at Oakland City's parade Tuesday when the storm hit, all lucky to be safe.

Valerie says she's living with family until she and Ryan can find a new home.

Friday, with tears dry, Valerie says this will be another weekend of hard work, picking up the pieces of the young family's first home.

She says they didn't yet have insurance on the trailer but did report the damage to Indiana's Department of Homeland Security.
