Dust Bowl Basketball Tournament will benefit local youth

A tradition decades in the making continues tonight. It's the Dust Bowl Basketball Tournament in Madisonville. All the proceeds benefit local youth programs.

This event is constantly growing, but each year it also becomes more than just a basketball tournament.

It's put on by the organization "Light of Chance", a non-profit group who tries to restore family and community values with various events.

All the funds raised go towards creating programs for the youth of Western Kentucky, including after school art classes.

As for the Dust Bowl, each team will play a minimum of three games throughout the weekend.  There is a three time reigning champion known as "Team Elite" from Madisonville, so teams will be gunning to take the throne from them.

There will also be much more than basketball, there will be free back to school haircuts, health screenings, school supplies, and an organ donor drive.

All the action is taking place at the Claybon Park in Madisonville so even if you're not playing in the tournament, there will be a lot of other great things to do.
