JASPER, IN (WFIE) -
A Jasper man was arrested Thursday, accused of attempting to rape a woman on the city's Riverwalk.
The Jasper Police Department responded to a complaint involving a man wearing a ski-mask on the Riverwalk, near the Ruxer Golf Course on Tuesday. According to the call, the man approached a female from behind with his arms outstretched.
According to police, the woman was afraid the man was going to attack her, ran away and called 911.
Following an investigation, assisted by the Dubois County Prosecutor's Office, Jasper Police arrested 28-year-old Anthony J. Temple.
Temple is currently being held in the Dubois County Security Center, facing charges of attempted rape, attempted criminal confinement, intimidation and attempted battery.
His bond is currently set at $2,500 cash only.
The Jasper Police Department wants to ensure that the Riverwalk continues to be a relaxing, safe location to exercise and enjoy nature. They believe this to be an isolated incident, but encourage citizens to always be aware of their surroundings, carry a cell phone while on the Riverwalk and to notify the police department immediately if the see suspicious or suspected criminal activity.
