HENDERSON CO., KY (WFIE) -

Police say the man involved in a motorcycle wreck in Henderson has died.

It happened around 5:30 Thursday morning.

Authorities say 60-year-old Richard Cox, of Henderson, was driving westbound on KY 825 following a curve in front of his home.  They say he drove over some loose gravel that had been knocked onto the road before he got there causing him to lose control.

Officials say the motorcycle slid and went down on it's left side.  Cox came off the motorcycle and both he and the motorcycle slid off the road into a ditch.

Henderson County Deputies say Cox was taken to Methodist Hospital and later transferred to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville for treatment.

Officials say Cox was pronounced dead at 3:42 p.m. Thursday afternoon at St. Mary's due to his injuries from the wreck.

Deputies say Cox was not wearing a helmet.
