Music lovers heading to Henderson

Posted: Updated:
HENDERSON CO., KY (WFIE) -

Musical artists from all over are gathering in Henderson this week as part of the "Songwriters Festival" and all the proceeds go towards a good cause.

If you're into live entertainment and the stories behind the music, this is your kind of event.

Over a dozen Nashville songwriters are featured including Henderson native Kerry Kurt Phillips.

It's the 3rd year for the festival and the city is really trying to make this a signature event for Henderson.

It's named after the late Sandy Lee Watkins who was from Henderson and he loved attending songwriter's festivals

All the proceeds go towards the Riverbend Academy which benefits local children in performing arts.

Times and locations for the performances are different throughout the week.

Tonight there's going to be two performances taking place at Rookies Sports Bar at 7 and 9.

Shows start at the same time on Friday night but they're going to be at party barge.

For the finale on Saturday night, there's only one performance getting underway at the Henderson Fine Arts Center at 7.
