INDIANA (WFIE) -

There was some hail damage all over the Tri-State after Tuesday night's severe weather.

Getting the damage repaired is pretty simple.

Just call your insurance agent, but since they might be pretty busy, and you need immediate repairs, one agent says, if it's safe to make those repairs, go ahead.

But you might want to take pictures first, and save your receipts.

"One of the most important things for folks to do is to start the repair process. Do some temporary repairs. If you've got broken windows, try to get that covered up, shingles off do temporary repairs to the roof. Just remember if you have any expenses like that, if you might have to buy a tarp, make sure you hang on to those receipts so you can be reimbursed through your insurance company," said State Farm Agent Mike Mohr.

Another bit of advice is to make sure the contractor doing those repairs is reputable, and the Better Business Bureau can help you with that.

Also, there's a new law in Indiana that creates regulations for home repair and remodeling and it includes provisions like a contractor can not waive insurance deductibles and the contractor must be authorized to do business in Indiana.

There are more provisions to this law, click here to read more about it.
