Over 100 jobs to be eliminated from Unilever

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Unilever North America has announced a new corporate move that will mean a big loss of jobs, locally.

They have announced an agreement to sell off their North American frozen meals business to ConAgra Foods, Inc. for $265 Million. Unilever's frozen meal business consists of multi-serve frozen entrees and appetizers under the Bertolli and P.F. Chang's brand names.

Owensboro's EDC confirms it will mean the loss of about 139 jobs at the Owensboro plant. The jobs will not disappear immediately, but will be phased out over a period of time.

The Economic Development Corporation is working with Unilever locally to attempt to retain or retitle some of those jobs.
