EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
Some new billboards that have gone up in Evansville have people talking.
They feature a robot and a slogan, but they don't say what they're advertising.
There is one on the 1400 block of West Franklin Street between 6th and 7th Streets. It says 'You will become one of us - Fall 2012.'
The vagueness is all part of the marketing strategy for the Tin Man Brewing Company that's opening this fall just about a block away from where the West Franklin Street sign is located.
The president of Tin Man says they plan to open around October 1 just in time for the Fall Festival. They're in the process of renovating a building that's more than 100 years old.
14 News is told they'll be brewing five different beers and will have a bar and restaurant inside. The beer will also be available to buy and take home with you.
President Nick Davidson says the billboards up around town do seem to be doing their job.
"So far it seems to be working great. It's really catching people's attention and yeah the billboard company has gotten calls to try to find out what the billboards are. It's doing its job. We want people to notice and have questions about it," said Davidson.
Davidson says they have about 13 billboards up around the Evansville area and they plan to update them a few more times with more information on them.
"We felt like that was the best way to grab people's attention to reveal a little bit at certain times, so we started out pretty vague with the billboards. Then we're going to be a little more elaborate and reveal more in the coming months," Davidson said.
The whole idea is to build interest about their business. The business is planning to open up right around Fall Festival time.
