EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

It was an eventful Friday evening for one couple as a wedding party gathered at an Evansville home to watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.

The future bride and groom are sports fans and love the Olympics, so they decided to share their passion with their family and friends. A tent in the yard became an Olympic venue.

"We both love the Olympics, and we set the date before we realized that the Olympics were starting. We didn't want to miss the opening ceremonies. I made a phone call to my dad and said 'dad, make this happen'," said Stephen Hackert of Evansville.

It was kind of a joke actually, like, 'lets project the Olympics,' and then all of the sudden it was 'alright, lets do it!'" said Marci Vandiver.

Steven and Marci are getting married Saturday in Evansville.
